CAP Officers

Adult members form the backbone of Civil Air Patrol.  Although Cadets participate in emergency services missions, the majority of participants are CAP Officers.  More than half of our members nationally are CAP Officers.  CAP Officers are pilots, observers, trainers, chaplains, lawyers, ground team leaders, IT professionals, and other dedicated mentors from all walks of life.  Although many are current military service members or veterans, most are not.  All CAP Officers are fingerprinted and background checked, and trained to appropriately interact with Cadets.

CAP Officers have a professional development and promotion system independent of Cadets.  Duty assignments range from the squadron (local) level, through Wing (state) level, all the way to the national level.  All of these duties are volunteer positions.  An example of some of our duties positions can be found on the Position Descriptions page.
